A Romanian Web-hosting and design business (CHML Web Services) came up with an interesting self-promotion plan under the guise of a SEO contest. The idea is rather simple. The company offers about $1,300 in cash and several hosting packages (from their own hosting services) as prizes. Each contestant has to join the contest with one single [...]

I'd appreciate it if you didn't use foul language. If you have something to say please do so in a civilized manner. You're not doing anybody any good by behaving like a 12yr old.

moneyeater is the God of Web. You soon may dissappear.

Skippy, I agree with your article. This is Spam SEO contest.

Here's the proof about indexing js.

I say we give it a few more days, nhg. If it keeps showing up I'll readily admit my mistake. But right now it's still possible that Googlebot got a copy of the page before I changed the phrase from plain text to JavaScript (I didn't think of this right away).

Unfortunately I forbid the bots from caching my pages so we can't take a look at the cached copy to make sure.

Putting the matter aside, I already stated I won't subscribe for the contest, so even if my article shows up in the search it can't possibly win.

the contest is a real good thing everyone can win but ofcourse chml will win more but then they are the ones that organizes this contest, i don't see any scheme they really did a nice work with this contest, the awards are not that big but they already pay for the services that gives to us free like web hosting, forum hosting, mail any others.

NaKeDMaN, thanks for reminding me to add rel="nofollow" to all the links in the comments. Everybody, feel free to post "chml srucnoc" links to your sites from now on. NaKeDMaN made sure it won't matter.

I owe nhg some apologies. It became apparent, after all these days, that Google indexes the text output via document.write().

Apologies accepted. I've found out about indexing js on one of the webapplications I've developed about a year ago and there's no resource/info about this over the internet (except for some speculations). An even more interesting fact is that googlebot submits & follows forms like "search" or "next/previous" on a basis that I can't figure out how.

Ars Aranea, honestly i don't know why you're so freaked out. We each have the right to an opinion, and I respect yours, but please try to show a lil' bit of respect to the ones implied in this contest. Not everyone is a spammer (currently #2, no spam). I understand you are good at this game, but you also have a page on a well-established domain, with a PR4. Me, for example, I am not willingly to add my domains for this contest. I've created a new one, even if i have smaller chances. this is still a romanian contest, and romainians tend to try 'smarter' methods. Yet again, spam was in V7ndotcom, nigritude, and all others. Every good thing has a drawback. Oh, an one more thing. I saw some math-thing on Cristian Mezei's page (i think). How on earth does he know that after the contest is over, i will keep chml's code?
anyway, we each have the right to an opinion and it would be quite ok to show a little more respect to chml competitors.
    cheers

I think I've been quite civil and I don't see where disrespect comes into any of this. I'm just trying to show both sides of the story. There is spam involved, there's no denying that. I haven't accused specifically anybody of spamming, so the only ones that could possible feel offended are persons with a very strange sense of reality.

Even so, I will continue to refine the article so it becomes as clear as possible. I will soon structure it better, emphasizing the main ideas. Hopefully there won't be any chance of misunderstanding after that.
